Raising awareness and promoting prevention are an important part of our continuing mission to improve the health and wellness of our community.Each year South Lake Hospital hosts a variety of special events and screenings to enhance community health and education. Be sure to check our community events regularly to stay involved.
Men's Health Event. Kenneth A. Essig, M.D., board certified urologist, will give a brief educational presentation. The screening will include a digital exam (DRE) and prostate specific antigen blood test (PSA).
The American Urological Association encourages all men who are in good health to have an annual prostate cancer screening starting at age 50, or at age 40 if they're in high risk groups. Please consult a physician.

TIF (Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication) is an incisionless surgical procedure that reconstructs the body’s natural physical barrier to reflux. An outpatient sugery, TIF, gets away from the side affects of traditional surgeries and allows patients who were chronically taking medications to get off them completely. Christopher Johnson, DO, and Jason Boardman, MD, both board certified surgeons and specially trained for the TIF procedure, will explain the procedure and answer your questions about acid reflux and this new solution.

An estimated 23.6 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes. Come learn how to live a healthy life while managing diabetes. South Lake Hospital will be holding a diabetes health fair that will include brief presentations by physicians and medical professionals covering diabetes basics, nutrition, diabetes foot prevention, staying fit with diabetes and self management. There will also be information booths with educational handouts, samples and experts to answer your questions on diabetes.
