Multiple sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another. Today, new treatments and advances in research are giving new hope to people affected by the disease. The NationalMultiple Sclerosis Society(MS) has a network of support groups across the United States, and encourages participation of the multiple sclerosiscommunity. Participation in support groups can provide an o pportunity to reach out to others who have had similar challenges and foster an improved understanding of lifestyle management. That is exactly what this group is going to focus on, the opportunities that are available to those members of the Clermont/ Lake County area who are suffering and need help.
