Different kinds of cysts and lumps may occur in one or both breasts. Although most are harmless or benign, any mass or change in the breast should be examined by your doctor.

Overview

Your doctor may examine your breast tissue to determine if your lump or lumps are cancerous, and may drain or remove your cysts and test the fluid found in them. Some lymph nodes around a cancerous tumor or tumors may also be removed and examined. If cancer is found, your doctor will recommend the best treatment plan that may include removal, chemotherapy, radiation, and hormone therapy.
