Lobular carcinoma affects the milk-producing glands, and may be noninvasive (in situ) or may have spread to the surrounding tissue.
Lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) is not a true cancer but a marker of a higher risk for developing cancer in either breast. Whether your cancer is invasive or noninvasive, we may use MRI to determine the spread and stage of the cancer and surgery to remove the abnormal cells. Our breast cancer team will suggest additional treatment as necessary.
