If dietary changes and topical medications fail to shrink your hemorrhoids, your doctor may recommend removing them using minimally invasive procedures.
Your surgeon may put a small rubber band around your hemorrhoid to shrink it by blocking blood flow, or use a staple for the same purpose. A third option is to cut your hemorrhoids away with a scalpel, which may or may not require stitches. Non-surgical treatments include injections and use of infrared light.
