Ovarian cancer begins in the ovaries and can spread within the pelvis and abdomen. It can be hard to detect early because there may be no symptoms, and later symptoms may be mild or easily confused with other problems.
Overview
Our gynecologic oncology team will determine whether your tumors are cancerous — and if so, the severity and spread — with a blood test, ultrasound, or testing of a tissue sample. Our surgeons may perform video-assisted laparoscopic, vaginal, or robotic surgery using the da Vinci Surgical System. We also may recommend chemotherapy and radiation to kill remaining cancer cells.
