Jamin Brahmbhatt, M.D., will join thousands of other men who grow mustaches for a good cause.
Clermont, Fla. — Jamin Brahmbhatt, MD, from South Lake Hospital’s PUR (Personalized Urology Robotics) Clinic is proudly participating in Movember Foundation’s annual “Movember” campaign, which is responsible for the sprouting of millions of moustaches around the world. Brahmbhatt will use his moustache to raise awareness on men’s health and to help raise funds for fighting prostate and testicular cancer and men’s mental health issues.
The Movember Foundation (www.movember.com) is a leading global organization committed to changing the face of men’s health. Once signed up, men “Mo Bros” grow and women “Mo Sistas” support just a moustache for the 30 days of November getting friends and families to donate toward their moustache growing efforts. Dr. Brahmbhatt and his partner Sijo J Parekattil MD, have partnered with a national team of doctors and their associates from across the county under the name “My Urology Doctor,” to help raise funds.
To date, the global Movember community has raised $550 million, and has funded over more than programs in 21 countries. This work is saving and improving the lives of men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health.
“Men don’t like to talk about their health issues,” commented Brahmbhatt. “But I know my moustache will get them talking and supporting men’s health.”
Brahmbhatt will begin the month with a “shave off” with a robotic twist. His team has entered into a friendly city-tocity challenge with an urologist from Jacksonville, Fla., Ali Kasraeian, MD, Using robotic-assistance, Parekattil will shave the first stroke for Brahmbhatt and Kasraeian, who will then continue the shave off. The winner gets bragging rights and a head start on their Movember moustache to help change the face of men’s health.
Their shave off will be held on Nov. 1, at 12:30 p.m. during the Annual Robotic Assisted Microsurgical and Endoscopic Society (RAMSES) meeting (www.ramsesrobotics.com) at Florida Polytechnic University, 4700 Research Way, Lakeland, Fla. The shave off will held in front of more than 200 conference participants and will be broadcasted on YouTube and XM Radio. Brahmbhatt will have updates throughout the month on his Twitter and Instagram feed at @UrologicMD. (While logged into your Instagram account, place “@UrologicMD” in the search bar to look for Brahmbhatt's profile.)
