South Lake Hospital embraces a philosophy of open and flexible visitation that welcomes and encourages the involvement of family and significant others in the patients' care. Patients may receive visitors of their choosing at any time and can also refuse to consent to a person visiting them. Patients may designate a "support person" to exercise their visitation rights on their behalf.
Please feel contact hospital information at 352.394.4071, ext. 0, for specifics regarding the area you plan to visit.
The following departments have guidelines and/or restricted visiting hours:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU):
Visiting hours for South Lake Hospital's ICU Unit are open so that family and loved ones can visit at any time. For our patients' safety and privacy, the ICU utilizes secured access to provide a more restful and healing environment for our patients. We ask that for the benefit of the patient, visitors are kept to a maximum of two (2) people at a time when possible.
Visitors to the ICU need to check in at the ICU Visitor Desk, located on the 2nd floor near the ICU entrance. The desk is staffed from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Outside of those hours there will be a phone located at the ICU Visitor Desk to call ICU team members, who will then greet visitors and escort visitors to the ICU.
Centre for Women's Health Labor & Delivery:
South Lake Hospital embraces visitors to celebrate your new addition. In order to keep our moms and babies safe and ensure rest for patients in the hospital, visiting hours are from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Patients may have up to three (3) guests at any time during the labor and delivery experience, one of whom must be an adult. When visiting hours are over at 9:00 p.m., if you have not delivered, only the three (3) guests you wish to have at your bedside for delivery will be allowed to stay until delivery. Visitors may come greet the new baby and congratulate mom immediately after delivery and are then asked to return during normal visiting hours. You may have one (1) overnight guest over the age of 16 stay with you overnight.
All visitors to the Labor & Delivery Unit must sign in at the welcome desk on the 2nd floor and all guest over 16 must present a photo ID. All visitors should be healthy and free from infection. Those who have been exposed to chicken pox, impetigo, tuberculosis, as well as vaccine preventable diseases such as measles, mumps, German measles, whooping cough or influenza within the last three weeks, or have evidence of a rash, cough or fever should not visit a maternity ward.
