Bio
Dr. Jose Torres is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. He specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery, and his expertise includes:
- Total shoulder replacements
- Total knee replacements, including robotic assisted surgeries
- Hand, wrist and elbow joint replacement and reconstruction
- Rotator cuff repair and reconstruction
With more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Torres believes in treating his patients with the care and empathy that he would like to receive.
Dr. Torres’ Training
Dr. Torres earned a bachelor’s degree in biology with distinction at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and a master’s degree in biochemical genetics at Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo, New York. He received his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, where he also completed an orthopedic residency. Dr. Torres completed a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Dr. Torres is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds additional certification in Mako robotic surgery. His professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Florida Medical Association and Florida Orthopaedic Society.
His research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, and he has presented at national conferences.
Outside of work, Dr. Torres enjoys spending time with family, golf and traveling. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
