Clermont, Fla. — U.S. News & World Report ranked South Lake Hospital third in the Orlando metropolitan area and recognized the hospital as high performing in the specialty of orthopedics in its annual Best Hospitals rankings released this week.

South Lake Hospital was ranked third of the 14 Central Florida hospitals, just behind Florida Hospital Orlando (No. 1) and Orlando Regional Medical Center (No. 2).

“This recognition is evidence of the quality of the team at South Lake Hospital,” commented South Lake Hospital President John Moore. “From our physicians to staff to volunteers, we have a strong culture of caring and excellence in quality of care.”

South Lake Hospital’s orthopedic services include an orthopedic-focused inpatient unit, outpatient rehabilitation at the National Training Center (NTC), education classes for joint replacement patients and a step-over program to the NTC’s fitness center to keep patients active after their procedures. The hospital’s medical staff also includes over a dozen of the area’s top orthopedic surgeons.

“We have always focused on orthopedics as part of our health, education and wellness campus,” commented Moore. “We are very fortunate to have highly skilled orthopedic surgeons who have partnered with us to develop our complete continuum of care.”

This year’s Best Hospitals, the 23rd annual edition, showcases more than 720 of the nation’s roughly 5,000 hospitals. Fewer than 150 are nationally ranked in at least one of 16 medical specialties.
