South Lake Hospital's Labor & Delivery Department offers quaity care for you and your baby close to home. Our experienced staff will support you and your family throughout your pregnancy and after your bundle of joy arrives.

Overview

The Center for Women's Health at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital is proud to provide a wide variety of pregnancy, childbirth and parenting classes for women and families in our community. For schedules, more information or to register for any of these classes, please call (321) 843-2584.

Our classes are taught by certified lactation consultants (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, IBCLC) and Registered Nurses who can help you plan, establish and continue providing breast milk, even if returning to work.

Childbirth Education Class - This one-day class in prepared childbirth will prepare you for labor, delivery and postpartum.  You will learn all about the process of labor, relaxation and breathing techniques, pain medications, cesarean births and how to care for yourself after your baby arrives. We suggest attending a class as you are entering your third trimester. 

Establishing Breastfeeding and Newborn Care Class - Moms and Dads are encouraged to learn the basics of Breastfeeding and Newborn Care. This class provides information on how to put your baby to breast, how to recognize feeding cues as well as the basics of burping, diapering, cord care and how to care for your newborn infant.

Moms' Morning Out Support Group - This group meets every Wednesday morning in the Center for Women's Health Obstetrics Department (except holidays). It is led by a lactation consultant and is for new moms and newborns up to four months of age. A baby scale is available.  No registration is necessary.  Please call 352.394.4071, ext. 4380 for more information.

Prenatal & Postnatal Breastfeeding Consultations - Private consultations may be covered by your private insurance. The consultation is a one-on-one meeting with a lactation consultant for breastfeeding concerns. Please call 352.394.4071, ext. 4380 to schedule.
