    Orlando, FL (December 17, 2019) – Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital and Orlando Health South Lake Hospital have been designated as 2019 Top Hospitals in the nation by the Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization. The annual Top Hospitals list has included at least two Orlando Health hospitals every year since 2015 with Orlando Health Arnold Palmer earning the recognition each year. Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the Top Hospital award, including infection rates, practices for safer surgery, maternity care, and hospitals’ capacity to prevent medication errors.

    Orlando, FL (August 10, 2021) – Orlando Health South Lake Hospital will soon start construction to expand its campus to provide South Lake County with greater access to high-quality healthcare. Plans include an expansion and renovations to the Orlando Health South Lake Center for Women’s Health and the construction of a new 95-bed patient tower. The first phase of construction will begin with the realignment of Don Wickham Drive to intersect with Legends Way and include the addition of a stoplight to improve traffic flow.

The hospital is one of the first hospitals in Lake County to prioritize mothers and babies by creating action plans that will improve the quality and support for mothers and babies giving birth in their hospital and answers one of the actions in the U.S. Surgeon General’s Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding. As well the Florida Department of Health supports this initiative, “The Florida Department of Health fully supports breastfeeding as a vital health activity,” said State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong. “We commend all hospitals and health care facilities that are working toward practicing the WHO/UNICEF Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and encourage others to adopt these practices so that all mothers and newborns achieve the best health possible.”
