The healthcare system ranks #86 overall out of 500 large organizations.   Clermont, FL (May 23, 2020) – Orlando Health South Lake Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval^® for Advanced Primary Stroke Center Accreditation. The designation recognizes hospitals with specific abilities to receive and treat the most complex stroke cases.

  Orlando, FL (Nov. 6, 2023) – Orlando Health South Lake Hospital has earned its 11th consecutive ‘A’ grade from the Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety and transparency in the U.S. health system. Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC), Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital, Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital and Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital also earned ‘A’ grades for patient safety in the fall 2023 reporting period. This marks the fifth ‘A’ grade in a row for Orlando Health ORMC and Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips.

The distinctions include a top 50 national ranking in Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery; regional rankings in Florida and the Orlando area; and high performing ratings in adult specialties and adult procedure and conditions.

• New Dedicated Education Unit Provides Lake County Nursing Students with Unique One-on-One Learning Opportunity

  Clermont, FL (November 1, 2022) – Orlando Health South Lake Hospital and Lake-Sumter State College have partnered together to develop a teaching-learning model that welcomes student nurses to a dedicated medical unit located on the hospital’s campus for their entire clinical rotation. The dedicated education unit will pair students one-on-one with Orlando Health South Lake registered nurses who will serve as clinical instructors and mentors while also helping students develop partnerships needed for a successful nursing career. The first class to participate in the program started earlier this month. 

• Orlando Health Celebrates Topping Out of New Patient Tower

  Clermont, FL (December 8, 2022) – Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, Lake County elected officials and community members celebrated another major milestone in the construction of its new, 95-bed patient tower. The hospital’s 75^th anniversary, which was first celebrated earlier this year, was also commemorated during the event with the sealing of a time capsule. Physicians, nurses and team members filled the time capsule with photos, memories about Orlando Heath South Lake and letters to the next generation of healthcare workers.
