Labor and Delivery Services
Women's Service
Our team is eager to be a part of this exciting time in your life. At South Lake Hospital Center for Women and Babies, we will be at your side throughout your journey, from pre-pregnancy through post-partum care. We are committed to providing an intimate birthing experience using the latest technologies and treatments available for you and your baby.
Our team, led by board-certified obstetricians, provides expert and compassionate care tailored to your and your baby’s unique needs before, during and after delivery. Our specialized nurses strive to promote mother-baby, skin-to-skin contact — even with C-sections — so that bonding begins immediately. You will have access to screenings and educational classes to help you feel better equipped to care for your newborn. If you choose to breastfeed, our lactation consultants and nurses are here to provide the support and resources for you to be successful.
We are constantly improving and upgrading the center to meet the needs of our growing community, with new postpartum suites, along with labor and delivery suites, that offer the comforts of home. You can also count on 24-hour emergency services and collaborative care with pediatrics. Our neonatal intensive care unit is expected to open in spring of 2026.
With any question or concern you may have, we are here to help you.
Amenities @accordionTitleTag.Name>
Your comfort is always our primary concern. As an expectant mother, you’ll enjoy a private birthing suite for laboring and delivery followed by a mother/baby suite to continue your post-delivery recovery. Our spacious rooms are designed with calming aesthetics and offer scenic views of south Lake County and ample natural light. A comfortable pull-out bed is available for your selected guest to spend the night and a glider is available in each suite
No matter when you go into labor or need care during your pregnancy, we’re here for you. Our 5-bed Women’s Triage Unit provides 24-hour emergency care, staffed by a team of doctors and nurses with experience in prenatal issues and high-risk pregnancies.
For your convenience, a team member from Orlando Health Scripts pharmacy will deliver any prescribed discharge medications directly to your bedside before you leave the hospital.
We support early bonding between mother and baby. Immediately following birth, your baby will room with you to gain the benefits of skin-to-skin contact and feeding through breast milk. Our lactation and feeding consultants will be available should you need some extra guidance. Breast milk provides the ideal nutrition for your baby while reducing the risk of diseases, allergies and other health threats.
Our care team includes physicians from the Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies Hospitalist group, as well as a registered nursing team with advanced certifications in clinical care, including neonatal resuscitation and fetal monitoring. Our nursery team includes certified neonatal RNs with experience working in a NICU setting.
We offer important advantages in caring for newborns through our everyday collaboration with the award-winning Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Pediatric physicians provide health screenings as well as specialized treatment for infants requiring advanced care.
Should your baby need a higher level of medical care, you can count on the team from the Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, one of Florida’s best in neonatology, located at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies. Our 24/7 on-call Mobile NICU is available for infants born at Orlando Health South Lake and provides ambulance or helicopter transport to the Downtown Orlando Campus.
