We believe that community education is a central component of our service. South Lake Hospital offers a variety of classes that
give participants the knowledge and resources to lead healthy lives.
This Tuesday evening class will prepare you for labor, delivery and postpartum. You will learn all about the process of labor,
relaxation and breathing techniques, pain medications, cesarean birth, and how to care for yourself after your baby arrives.A
tour of the South Lake Hospital Centre for Women's Health is included.

Breastfeeding Workshop I
Moms and Dads are welcome to come and learn the basics of how breastfeeding works, how to put your baby to breast for a
feeding, how to recognize feeding cues, how to troubleshoot problems and much more.

This class will teach you how to care for your newborn so that you will feel more confident when you take him or her home.

Diabetes Self-Management Education
Whether you have just found out you have diabetes or have had diabetes for some time, South Lake Hospital’s Diabetes Class is
for you. It will help you understand how medications, nutrition, exercise and blood sugar monitoring play a roll in developing
a healthy lifestyle. It will discuss the truth about what diabetes really is. It will also show you how to assume responsibility for
limiting your risk for complications associated with diabetes. This is a one day class. Please bring lunch with you.

The American Heart Association First Aid course is specially designed to train anyone who might be the first to
respond inan emergency. The First Aid Course provides the skills to effectively assess and maintain life from the critical minutes
immediately following an emergency until the arrival of emergency medical services personnel.

Smoking Cessation
Like most smokers, you probably have many different feelings about smoking. You’ve heard all the reasons why you should quit.
And by joining this program, you’ve indicated that you’re willing to change-ready to quit. How does change happen?
Like most people,
you’ll go through a series of stages. You might even experience certain stages more than once. That’s okay.
The Smoking Cessationprogram is built to help you pass through the stages and learn from any setbacks so you can
keep moving ahead.

Safe Sitter® teaches adolescent babysitters how to handle crises and how to nurture and guide ayoung child. Safe Sitter®
